MARLENA SIGMAN

From color and shape to typography and hierarchy—all of these things are quietly working together to communicate a broader concept or idea to your audience. Effective designs, even award-wining designs, require a deep understanding of communication.

As a designer and art director, I bring my desire for clear communication, passion for design, and ability to consistently deliver to any project. I thrive on using design to make this world a better place. By using a combination of creative prowess and commercial awareness, I design unique, effective, and creative visual solutions to communicate the needs of my clients.

Outside of design, I have been told I brew the best French press coffee this side of the Atlantic. My fascination with British television shows keeps me on a regular schedule with PBS and BBCA. I will rise to any challenge—even if it means throwing together a fully-themed costume party on a day's notice. My favorite things include sloths, cooking, visiting local breweries, and exploring the beautiful Greenville, South Carolina with my little lab. If you want to know more about my life, just Google "Leslie Knope eats waffles GIF."

THE LOGO MARK

There are many layers that combine to create a designer, and when I began developing a personal mark, I wanted to create a logo that would be representative of those layers. This mark serves as a reflection of my deep love for meaningful details. After all, the beauty of life is in the details.

THE M: The simple lines that create the "M" are a reflection of my passion for utilizing various materials to create something beautiful. I am at my best when I am tasked with bringing together seemingly unrelated elements in order to bring a greater idea to life—and the various shapes and paths I created with this logo show this concept.

THE SIGMA: It is no coincidence that, when you flip my logo on its side, it forms the "sigma" symbol. This symbol is important to me because it is a representation of my last name and my family. As I continue to grow as a creative, I hope I never forget my roots and the people who have made me who I am today.

THE PATH: My favorite part of this logo is that it is both a shape and a path. When I approach a project, I am constantly challenging myself to take on new perspectives to find unique and dynamic solutions. To have a logo that continuously evolves serves as a reminder for me to always try to push my work further.
